A Dog’s Life

A Dog’s Life

(The Dog Star is a symbol of power, will, and steadfastness of purpose, and exemplifies the One who has succeeded in bridging the lower and higher consciousness. —Astrological Definition)

I’ve always thought that when I let the dogs out in the morning and they sniff all over the yard it’s like their morning newspaper (except with far more objective information and no biased reporting). They’re learning what went on overnight, who was there, where they went, and whether they were calm or excited.

A woman I know, Judith Sherling, sent me the photo below (I don’t know its origin). Bentley, my German Shepherd, has a cache of sticks behind the trees which he accesses if people are thoughtless enough not to bring a ball or Frisbee for a game of fetch. I don’t think he’s thought of this, though. (It says, “Dog library, take a stick, leave a stick.”)
