Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 5/19/26

Alan Weiss's Monday Morning Memo

Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 5/19/26

We’re back from London and Paris, placing me at about 4,100,000 air miles since 1963 (my first two flights ever, from Helsinki back to New York, my next one being on our honeymoon in 1968). Some observations and interpretations.

The traffic in London and Paris is monstrous. I timed one green light lasting only three seconds in our direction at a major intersection. The traffic is actually worse than New York, and there are virtually no “interstates” as in the US. People commute by train from out of town, and often bikes and scooters within town. The taxis and Ubers (often the same car and driver in Paris) are excellent. (Digression: Every Uber in London that we called was a top-end, electric or hybrid, BMW or Mercedes, and the drivers owned them. I looked up the prices: about $125,000 US.)

The boîtes, brasseries, and restaurants are ubiquitous in Paris where the major meal is often lunch. Absolutely wonderful escargot almost anywhere. The service is remarkably friendly in shops, taxis, and hotels, not so much on public transportation (trains) or other services. The politics in Britain and France are as unsettled as they are in the US (as my friend from Germany confirmed for his country at dinner with us in Paris).

The Parisian garbage trucks unavoidably hold up traffic on narrow streets but light up a sign on the top, rear of the truck in French and English which says, “Patience.” Why do I feel that such a device in the US would say, “So’s your mother!!”?

Notre Dame is beautifully rebuilt and refurbished, though it seems “too clean” and somewhat sterile. I miss the “historical dust” of the place, the residue of past glory. The Rodin Museum, which we visited for the first time, provided me with new appreciation for the man’s huge talent, his diversity of work (doors, furniture, fireplaces), and the profundity of his sculpture. I had not associated him with the beginning of the 20th Century.

No amount or reading, viewing, or listening can equal being in “foreign lands” and imbibing the flavor, understanding the culture through osmosis, and enriching our lives. We’re actually members of the Circumnavigators Club, one of those places I like to determine if I can just get into (you need to have circumnavigated the globe), and that gives us membership in the Yale Club in New York (which has absolutely awful food).

We’re booked already for Slovenia and Italy next year, and Italy, perhaps twice. My wife is Italian back to the Medicis, I’m the first non-Italian to ever enter into it, and the food is outstanding there!

(You’ll note that Monday Morning Memo is back on the correct day!)

Luckily inside, I feel like an 18-year-old, with the spirit inside me as adventurous and young as it ever was. I still have wide-eyed wonder about the amazing things I've seen, in an extraordinary life travelling all over the world for my career. —Robson Green

Fees: Starts at $2500

This is not for those who need more tactics. It’s for those who seek an identify shift to shamelessly build brand and command the income justified by their value. Objectives:

  • The economic prism to best evaluate opportunities and clients
  • Creating and justifying high fees without guilt or trepidation
  • Exploiting the reasons buyers pay six- and seven-figure fees
  • Before and beyond a brand: a repositioned identity
  • Creating a business that serves your life, not the reverse

Topics and Discussions

  1. The economics of expertise
    • Better positioning trumps “more leads”
    • The active volcanoes of IP
    • Revenue depends on value clarity
    • The supremacy of recognized value
  2. Continual value creation
    • The psychology of capturing value and ignoring price
    • Offensive, not defensive proposals
    • Walking your talk, talking your walk
  3. Surpassing “trusted advisor”
    • The IA (indispensable authority)
    • The myths of likeability and accessibility
    • Distance without arrogance
    • Rejecting positive and dysfunctional relationships
  4. The authority/brand/gravity alchemy
    • Visibility is not authority
    • Thought leadership is framing, not solving
    • To market upward you can’t go sideways
  5. The ROI journey begins at the destination
    • There must be “reasonable certainty”
    • Work backwards from outcomes
    • Confidence and competence over credentials
    • Your internal transformation
  6. Road closed, do not proceed
    • Scaling is something you do to fish
    • Only profitable growth makes sense
    • The “E” word is elevation, not expansion
    • Your life cannot serve your business

Who should attend?

  • Experienced consultants, speakers, coaches in any field
  • Those seeking a great lifestyle, not a specific monetary goal
  • People who can openly share and be honest with colleagues
  • Those who feel their talents and value can be spread much farther
  • Those who feel under-valued and under-appreciated

Applicants will be “curated” to ensure proper interactions.

$2,500 per person

$3,500 to include second morning with Q&A with Alan demonstrating transition needs for each attendee

$7,500 to include four hours of one-on-one coaching in 30-60-minute segments within six months, flexibly scheduled

$10,000 includes dinner with Alan one-on-one in a great restaurant

You will no longer struggle for client affection, selection, or projection. You’ll be chosen because of your identity and authority.

Summary: You’re not “buying” information or tactics, you are investing in a new way of thinking about yourself, the market, and long-term, sustainable immediate and passive income for your value.
