Control

Control

I think what people seek more than anything else is control. They’re most secure, even “happy” when they feel they have influence over their lives. We’ve come to call this “agency” today, meaning latitude of action.

The media drown us in natural disasters, political failures, financial troubles, illnesses, and gloom. We’re often advised to regain control with superficial devices, like stumbling over hot coals or sitting in sweat tents,

I think this quest for control is quite legitimate. And I believe you increase your control through independence (entrepreneurship), skills building, and prudent risk. You don’t have to be a “victim” of disruption, you can create disruption in your market.

Most people have more potential control than they think. They’re simply told every day that they don’t. Be careful to whom you listen.
