Don’t Bother, They’re Here

Don’t Bother, They’re Here

“Send in the Clowns” has as its origin the show business dictum that if things aren’t going well in the performance, send in the clowns to break things up, start telling jokes, abandon the original script. Divert people’s attention from the failed performance.

As we view the state of politics today, on both sides of the aisle, my fear is that we’ll run out of clowns. (Or maybe they’e already taken over. In the song, the lyric is “Don’t bother, they’re here.”)
