A Word, A Sentence, A Paragraph, A Book

A Word, A Sentence, A Paragraph, A Book

Every commercially-published author wrote a “first book.” No matter whether it was fiction or nonfiction, we all had to write that “first book” and sell it to a publisher. No exceptions—you can’t have a fourth book unless you’ve had a first book.

So stop complaining that it’s so difficult, and you have “writer’s block” (you might as well claim you saw a Sasquatch), or no one appreciates your efforts, yada yada yada.

A few books are great, most books are mediocre, and some books are laughably terrible (The Celestine Prophecy). We’re not talking about War and Peace or The Grapes of Wrath here.

Stop complaining and whining and sit down and write. Or, don’t sit down and write and keep whining and complaining. See which decision gets you closer to someone publishing your book.
