Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 11/18/2024
I think this election showed the fallacy of homogeneity (the quality or state of being all the same or all of the same kind). I’m weary of the labeling of “boomers,” “the greatest generation,” “millennials,” “GENX,” and whatever.
I know a lot of people in their 20s who share values and viewpoints with me (and I know many who don’t, of course). I know a great many of my fellow boomers with whom I disagree mightily (from politics to retirement, from food to optimism). When we “label” people by age, gender, education, geography, race, religion, ethnicity, ableness, sexual orientation, or whatever, we are not trying to understand them better, we are dismissing them as though they are the polyps in some coral formation.
What’s even worse is using the results of invalid behavioral “tests” that sort people into “expressives,” or “high D,” or “green,” or “INTJ,” or “prolapsed introverts” (all right, I made the last one up, but not all of you knew that). Fifty years ago you could say, “What do you expect from a woman?” without getting arrested, but you can’t today, nor should you. So why is it we can say, “What do you expect from an ENTP?”
This polemic is toxic.
Moreover, the people we mindlessly place in those drawers and compartments feel the normative pressure to conform to their stereotypes. “Oh, I’m a “convoluted excessive,” or a member of the “coddled generation” so I should be acting like this….”
Despite your politics, it’s an objective reality that the Democrats relied on groupings (Latinos, Blacks, highly educated, women, unions, etc.) to vote a certain way homogenously. They did not.
The barrista in my coffee shop this morning is 40 years younger than I, less educated, female, and has tattoos. We chatted while she made the cappuccino about colleges and her brother’s major. We both learned a few things.
That’s the way of the world. Two kinds of people have made big mistakes trying to influence me: Those who “typed” me and those who underestimated me—which go hand-in-hand.
Your uniqueness is what makes you special, and that is beautiful. —Nia Jax
While we have the gift of life, it seems to me the only tragedy is to allow part of us to die—whether it is our spirit, our creativity or our glorious uniqueness. —Gilda Radner
Be who you are. Don’t be afraid to show your uniqueness. —Hidilyn Diaz

New Newsletter: Not Without Honor…. (Began October 15)
“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house.” —The Gospel of Mark, 6:4
Join me for a monthly newsletter that will explore, analyze and predict ramifications of issues and events in global societies. Each issue will focus on topics that will include politics, social mores, the arts, sports, technology, financial affairs, and other contemporary issues. Develop the ability to discuss current issues with dexterity and insight and become an object of interest to others, whether clients, colleagues, or friends. The discussions will be brief and focus on several issues per edition. Letters and commentary from readers will be welcome.
For example, as we are undergoing the dynamics of morbidity outpacing fertility in most developed countries, there will be a profound labor shortage if actions are not taken rapidly. This includes such diverse political systems as China and the US. There are three key areas, that must be utilized to accommodate what is apparently a multi-generational problem. We’ll discuss what they are and analyze what must be done to successfully resolve the dilemma.
You get the idea. The first issue launched in October. The fee is $500 for the year of newsletters, including all back issues if you join during the year. https://alanweiss.com/

and, finally, this special offering: Master Master Class 2025
I’m happy to once again offer the unique Master Master Class in 2025. It will be in the exquisite Newport area on March 12-13, two full days of learning, experimenting, and building new collegial relationships.
We will achieve: • New offerings and IP for a volatile, No Normal® world. • A consistent “voice” of expertise in your market—a “go to” magnetism and attraction. • The identification and evaluation of your existing “body of work” to be repurposed and exploited for passive income. • A book idea—commercially published or self-published, hard copy or electronic, written by you or “ghosted”—that will establish and perpetuate your stature. • The HOV lane for advisory work with high fees and low labor. • The confidence and presence to deal successfully with anyone at any time in any environment. (Very special role plays.)
This will be all new material from prior Master Classes. The fee will be $15,000 which includes lodging and most meals and a reception. (This will probably be the last Master Class I conduct in person, on site. No, I’m not kidding.) I have three people already attending simply by hearing me discuss this informally. My limit is a dozen people. It will not be recorded, but you may attend by Zoom, although I caution you on the intrinsic disadvantages of so doing. Attendees may record the session on their own.
