Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 2/11/13
February 11, 2013—Issue #177
This week’s focus point: A huge blizzard struck the northeastern U.S. and everyone talks of being without “power.” In fact, we were without electricity, access, sometimes water. But when we continually say we’re without power, we can, in fact, become powerless. We look for the radio talk show host, or the power company lineman, or the municipal plow to give us our power back. We should always have a Plan B and a Plan C in life and business. We need others who can depend upon us and upon whom we can depend. We are resourceful and innovative–unless we keep telling ourselves, and the media keep reminding us, that we’re “powerless.”
Monday Morning Perspective: It’s only by risking our persons from one hour to the next that we live at all. — William James
