Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 6/24/13

Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 6/24/13

June 24, 2013—Issue #196

This week’s focus point: The gifted actor James Gandolfini died of an apparent heart attack at age 51 while vacationing in Italy. He had no history of heart disease. No matter what our ages, we must bear in mind that life is short. We don’t live as long as parrots or turtles in many cases, and the dinosaurs as a life form were dominant for 125 million years or so, ruined only by an accident from space. I’ve seen too many people pass up opportunity, reward, and pleasure because they didn’t think they deserved it or didn’t want to invest in it. There are no guarantees in life except that we will all reach the end of it. Enjoy yourself, take prudent risk, experiment, dare to be different. Act as if you’re rounding third, running for home, and there’s going to be a collision at the plate. Make the catcher drop the ball. You don’t want to lead your life stranded on third base.

Monday Morning Perspective: If an offense come out of the truth, better it is that the offense come than that the truth be concealed. — St. Jerome, quoted by John Toland in “Captured by History”.
