Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 8/19/13
August 19, 2013—Issue #204
This week’s focus point: There are experts and there are experts. The vaunted “emerging economies” (China, Brazil, India) are contributing less to world growth at the moment than the traditionally strong economies, especially the US and Japan. Japan is undergoing a resurgence despite dire predictions not long ago. China has only three major cities rated as having healthy, breathable air. The US, Japan, and western Europe are contributing more to growth than the so-called emerging economies for the first time in six years. This has strong implications for companies which have worldwide operations. In the past, consumer demand has restored the US in downturns, but today it’s energy. What does this mean for your business, your investments, your expectations?
