Is It Whom You Follow, Or Who Follows You?

Is It Whom You Follow, Or Who Follows You?

Can someone explain to me how anyone on X (the artist formally known as “Twitter”) can “follow” 90 people, or 220, or 1,500? What does that mean? Are they spending entire days in a bunker trying to read the ramblings of all these people and somehow digest some kind of intelligent ideas to use? But how to use them if you’re totally caught up in reading them all?

Or, is it like the people who trail 23 undecipherable initials after their names as if the sheer volume gives them some kind or credentials and credibility? “Yes, I follow 87 people on X, including these well-known experts….”

I’m doubting, of course, that anyone is following them.
