Rationality

Rationality

The ACLU has filed an injunction against the Governor of Rhode Island who had issued an order to remove homeless people and their tents from the state house grounds. People have complained about the public defecation, filth, drug paraphernalia, and crime. But the ACLU seems to feel they have a right to engage in these practices. (The governor has offered safe shelters.)

I’m no lawyer (thank God) but I do know that some actions are simply wrong. Someone, discussing personal freedoms, observed that “your freedom stops at my nose.” There are some things are are simply wrong and we know that as rational beings.

In this day of racism and anti-Semitism, you’d think the ACLU would have other things to do.

These are not “undocumented renters.” These are people who may be a danger to themselves as well as others and who have no “right” to pose a public threat. And there are others who are just the victims of misfortune and bad luck and need to be helped, not simply tolerated on the streets.
