We’re all living longer and performing at a higher level longer. Tony Bennet will sell out Madison Square Garden at 90. There is an ageism bias in our society, and just as gender bias removes half the talent in the equation, so does ageism.

    Hence the expression: “you’re over-qualified”. Middle management uses that term a great deal. why it is always better to sell to the top.

    I think they may be removing more than half the talent when they demarcate against age, as the talent has built over time in wiser, more experienced heads.

    No one cuts their way to growth. And eliminating people because their replacements are cheaper is one of the dumbest moves (among many) that American management commits.
