Work

Work

I’m getting a bit weary of people complaining about their clients not returning calls, or Zoom not having enough features, or the flaws in the new iPhone, or tough life of hotels and airplanes.

I spent an hour or so on the interstate this morning at 5 am going to Boston to catch an early flight to Las Vegas. We were in the HOV lane, and alongside us in the regular travel lanes were large trucks, pickups, and generally small cars heading for factories, stores, and offices in the dark and in the rain. They were often stopped, usually moving at about 20 miles per hour at best. Most of these people would face the same conditions returning late in the day.

To put myself through college, I worked in manufacturing plants, the post office, and a cheap retail store basement. I know what “work” really is. And it’s not worrying about whether you have enough backups for your computer.
