IDIOTIC IT

Remember the old nerdy GIGO: garbage in, garbage out, as if the users were always at fault, not the programmers?

How about IDIOTIC: intelligent directions input, operationally turned into crap?

I’m tired of sites that demand you repeat the same information six times, don’t recognize your password, make you redo an entire form because of one error, and so on. We can create a vaccine for the flu and measles but can’t create an easy submission form?!

IDIOTIC.

    Apple is one of the worst offenders demanding a password you haven’t used in the past 99 years, have a combination of special characters, numbers and upper/lower case letters. Drives me nuts!

    That’s what happens when IT and not Sales & Marketing are in charge. Make it easy to buy guys.

    In defence of us programmers, GIGO was a shortening of the classic Babbage quote:

    “On two occasions I have been asked, ‘Pray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?’ I am not able rightly to apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question.”
