Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 11/19/12

November 19, 2012—Issue #165

This week’s focus point: We are all entitled to our opinions, and our perspectives differ, influenced by our values, experiences, education, colleagues, and so forth. But we are not entitled to our own facts. Just because we have access to “publishing” as never before (Facebook is really a vanity publishing platform) doesn’t mean what’s published is rooted in empirical reality. You can tell yourself and others that rattlesnakes don’t bite, but the snake behaves according to a a very different reality. In business and life, validate what you believe to be true. Don’t accept your own suppositions, and never blindly accept someone else’s.

Monday Morning Perspective: Crushing truths perish from being acknowledged. — Camus
