Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 5/27/13

May 27, 2013—Issue #192

This week’s focus point: It’s very dangerous to generalize. I’ve been in Tuscany for over a week (where I’m writing this) and you’d never know the Italian economy is in trouble. That’s because it’s not universally in trouble. We have a tendency to generalize from negative specifics. In the teeth of the great recession, some businesses did quite well. During periods or booming prosperity, some do quite poorly. I believe that the stock market and investor decisions are largely emotional. Logic makes us think, but emotion makes us act. What emotions do you bring to your business and to your life? I feel and believe there are great times ahead for me. And that’s how I behave. How about you?
