Alan’s Thought For Today

Alan’s Thought For Today

A sales manager at a major New York property is trying to get two full weeks of my business next year, which would be worth six figures. I received a phone message at 8 this morning that she’s in a training class, and will call me during lunch break. I’m leaving for Italy.

Presumably, they are training her how to sell better, and keeping her from actually selling to a very valuable client. I am not making this up.

There is your definition of bureaucracy. Stay in the training program about selling so you can sell more, and don’t take time out to go sell more. Stick to the input, ignore the output.

    Very Timely Alan.
Just hung up on a call to an insurance company to renew my insurances. I received a quote last week, the sales lady was knowledgeable and helpful. Rang today to accept her quote and was told, that she was in a sales meeting until 11. When I asked if she could leave the meeting to take my call, I was told that that wouldn’t be possible and she would return my call after 11 (it was 9am) because sales training is very “important” for the company.
I’d rather pay a higher premium to be a company that wants my business and treats me with respect (they actually matched the quote from the competitor after me telling them the situation and when they finished laughing!).
    Cheers
    Gary
