Driving Along

Driving Along

The “old roads” of 70 years ago created huge jams for beach traffic. Now the turnpikes and parkways enable ten times the traffic—to also be jammed. Is that really progress?

(At least the cars don’t overheat today, but will the electrics run out of charge or catch on fire?)

By the way, traffic deaths have reversed and are climbing in the US, attributed to cell phone use of drivers and pedestrians, and larger amounts of cannabis found among drivers (New York Times). That clearly isn’t progress.
