Escaping the Blood Suckers

Escaping the Blood Suckers

I knew a woman once who was a very good speaker, not quite as highly regarded as I am or invited to as many places, but quite good. I found that when we were together at an event, she always came up to me to tell me what I was doing wrong or which of my points were incorrect. She never provided any kind or praise, just negative critique. She never asked me how she could improve, just told me how I can improve.

My solution was to stop talking to her. There was no point or value in the discussions. She’d have to deal with her issues without me.

Sometimes you simply have to remove yourself from irritants in your life, not try to convert them or reason with them. They’re like mosquitos, their life-force is about sucking blood. And some irritants are not mosquitos but vampires.

You can’t go around swatting them or sticking a wooden stake in their hearts. But you can go around them.
