How I Wrote this Post this Morning

When people tell me they’re “overwhelmed” I know exactly why, so I can help them.

Do I have your attention?

People experience a sense of overwhelm when they don’t focus on a single issue in front of them, but instead engage in concerns about a multiplicity of issues in the future. Rather than creating a proposal right now, they also begin to think about a discussion they have to have with their kids, check that must be written, a trip they have to schedule, and a client who owes them money. So the proposal isn’t completed or is done poorly.

Choose something that needs to be done, either complete it or do a significant portion well, then move on to something else that needs to be done.

Intersperse this with some Angry Birds, fetch with the dog, or a good book.

That’s how you overwhelm “overwhelm.”
