It’s About the Population of Germany

It’s About the Population of Germany

In the 2020 US presidential election, about 80 million people (one-third of all eligible voters) did not vote. That’s a larger population number than all of but 18 countries in the world. I think this might be worse in 2024.

People seem exhausted by the corrosive and toxic polarization, and the marginalized radicals on both sides. They’re weary of lies and refusing to answer the questions that were asked. They are laughing at the chaos of debates and the ineptness of the moderators. And everyone is tired of the endless groups with personal agendas and grievances that they demand everyone acknowledge and act upon—daily.

Some political scientists point out that our system was designed by geniuses, whatever their human flaws might have been. Thank God it’s certainly a system that can persevere no matter whose hands are on the controls. Because we haven’t seen a true statesman here since the likes of Tip O’Neill and Everett Dirksen, or a President who can rally a wide variety of people such as Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton did.
