It’s All About Soul
I was reading about someone’s consulting and coaching work this morning and she mentioned, in passing, a friend who was successfully working remotely for a company “to which she has no loyalty.” That phrase brought me up short, sand on the track, screeching brakes. If you don’t believe in your employer and the organization’s business, why take their money? Why waste your time? This isn’t a question of poverty and desperately needing to put bread on the table. The employer isn’t in the drug trade, or tobacco, or firearms. It’s just a routine kind of business.
It’s not always your mothers’ fault, and it’s not always your boss’s fault. Sometimes, it’s just self-indulgence. And sometimes organizations have more soul than individuals.
