It’s That Second Time

One of my gifts for speaking at a University’s school of business was a coffee cup that keeps the coffee hot. It requires an app and control by my iPhone (of course) but it does what it promises and keeps the coffee hot for a long time. It looks like any regular coffee cup.

My first reaction was, “Why would I need this?” But when I tried it, I liked the fact that my coffee wasn’t cold in ten minutes or longer. I remember wondering why I needed a hard wired phone in my car 40 years ago, or a remote control garage opener, or a robot to clean my pool. I wondered until I used them once and wanted to use them again.

Once is a luxury, but twice is a necessity. That’s how quickly innovations can be appreciated when they immediately improve our lives.

Think about that when you’re trying to help a client appreciate your value.
