Just Step Over That Body

Just Step Over That Body

If you ever need proof that “bucket lists” are stupid and selfish, just think of those people standing in long lines for hours at the top of Mt. Everest, risking oxygen deprivation and falling, and stepping over dead bodies frozen into the earth, just to say they’ve been to a tiny area the size of a few billiard tables. And think of the garbage and human detritus strewn all over the base camps and mountainside. I don’t consider these people being at the top of the food chain even if they’re at the top of the mountain.

Do they all think they’re Sir Edmund Hillary? Do they think this is Disneyland? They all ought to be ashamed of themselves. If they want to accomplish something, serve in a soup kitchen or give blood. But then again, how many “bucket lists” are filled with charitable acts instead of self-serving excursions?

I wonder if they’s step over a dead body on the way to work or on vacation? I guess so….
