Peace Be With You

Peace Be With You

The concert for peace at the Vatican in front of St. Peter's contained a diversity of incredible talent and a huge, appreciative crowd. It was free, it was entertaining, it was thoughtful. Ironically, as a sign of our times there are protests on social media (of course) because it was deemed to be too “Catholic” or “Christian” or in a “holy space” (which I guess antagonizes  atheists). The square in front of St. Peter's is not a “holy place,” and all kinds of events and celebrations have been held there (including some outdoor Masses, which can be held anywhere). There were some Christian symbols created by the drones overhead, and the square is in front of the Basilica. There was also a tribute to the late Pope Francis.

If the Vatican hosting a concert for peace disturbs some people, because their particular ideology isn't met, perhaps peace isn't what they really desire.
