Preparing or Coping?

Preparing or Coping?

Many people and organizations, from churches to accounting firms, from solo consultants to investment companies, have tried to reach out to their constituencies via livestream and Zoom and similar means during this crisis. Most of them have failed to do this well because they had not done it before, and were doing it out of desperation and trying to catch up. But those which have done it well in the past were already involved in the technology and the approaches, and had no learning curve or equipment shortages or knowledge deficits. Employers accustomed to employees working from home certainly had an easier time than those who weren’t.

Are you preparing for business in an inclusive manner, accommodating diverse methods to interact with customers, prospects, employees, investors, and other stakeholders. Saying, “I look forward to getting together once this is over” is far inferior to being in contact in the moment.

Are you learning from this or just trying to cope with it?
