Non-Polarization

Non-Polarization

Many people have told me that in their travels they realize that people all over are far more similar than dissimilar, perhaps to the tune of 90%. I've found the same thing.

My contrarian view is that we are not really polarized in the US, that most of us see the same issues as important: family, health care, financial safety, safe streets, quality education, racism and human respect, and so forth. Most opposing views are on issues such as gun control and abortion.

I understand I may be simplifying, but the thought that intelligent politicians (an oxymoron?) cannot create accord over most of the issues most of us favor, but rather put their own power and perquisites above all, is repugnant.
