Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 12/16/2019

Monday Morning Memo

Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 12/16/2019

The managers of the restaurant where we are the best customers secretly loaded (so others wouldn’t see and expect it) a huge gift basket of Italian goodies into the trunk of my car parked out front last night.

A non-profit director who sometimes asks me for donations wrote me to say that he thought the Nutcracker performance was outstanding last night, and was making an online donation to my matching grant for the ballet.

The holidays, to me, are about showing gratitude and exhibiting generosity (of spirit, not just tangibles).

I’m encouraged to think more deliberately about my own gestures of friendship and thanks. It’s not difficult, but it does take some focus.

Thus, my message for today: Thank you for your interest in and support of my work. Thanks to those of you who have taken the time to write, even if it was to explain how I’m wrong! I’m grateful for this “connection” every week, and I’ll try to keep it interesting for you. And I hope you feel, as I do, that the price is right!

Too many have dispensed with generosity in order to practice charity. Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.—Albert Camus

The fee is only $300 (but only for the next month) and I’m buying lunch. I’m doing this especially for people who can’t attend my more expensive offerings, but it’s open to all and we had a lot of “veterans” in Boston.
