Benevolent Floods

Benevolent Floods

We had a huge storm overnight. Our two-acre pond flooded over the driveway and nearly up to our bridge. The flooding “cleansed” the pond, and washes out some of the detritus on the bottom, the decaying leaves, and so forth. The turtles, fish, frogs, and ducks all seem to take it in stride.

That kind of cleansing is good for our businesses as well. We tend to operate with a lot of “decaying” stuff underneath us that we never bother to get rid of: obsolete approaches, irrelevant files, “necessary evils,” and so forth. I heard a guy say he felt refreshed when he threw out all his old 35mm slid! Get rid of your PowerPoint “decks” and you’ll really be free!
