But Enough About Me, What Do YOU Think About Me?

But Enough About Me, What Do YOU Think About Me?

I’m getting daily calls from candidates for governor of Rhode Island, asking for donations, and there are quite a few of them. Every one of them makes a “pitch” and they all sound alike. But I stop them and tell them the three priorities for the state:

• Reduce bureaucratic regulation and excess taxation on small businesses

• Lure an airline that will fly daily from Rhode Island nonstop to LA and San Francisco, because you can’t really build this economy if people have to use Boston, 90 minutes or more away

• Massively improve the public schools in Providence, which have drawn scathing reports from independent sources, and stop being beholden to the teachers’ union which doesn’t consider the students to be important, only their own well being

Not one of the candidates has asked me a follow up question on any of these points. Not one person, not one question. I’m a superb consultant with a powerful brand because I ask questions, I don’t show up with “solutions” and answers until I hear from my client and the client’s customers.

But, what do I know? Look how well the politicians are doing….
