We landed in Hong Kong where it’s 80° F, after waking up to 24° in Beijing. A woman met us at the jetway, had a driver with one of those electric carts, drove us a mile or so, and we were through immigration in two minutes, only to find our escort heaving our luggage onto a cart already. We were taken outside to the Four Seasons representatives, and a Flying Spur drove us to the hotel.

We have a huge suite with a stupendous harbor view. We grazed in the club, although someone in the Four Seasons chain had the foresight to provide my wife, who dines out with me seven nights a week, a kitchen in the suite! We’ve decided to put the suitcases in the oven.

Several managers met us at the door and we proceeded to our lodgings—you don’t have to check in when you do it right at these places.
