DASM: Diversify This

DASM: Diversify This

I get an email from a guy I’ve never heard of who wants to interview me on his podcast. I get these requests weekly, and politely turn down 99% of them. This guy’s specialty is international cultural diversity.

He lists his former guests, of whom I’ve never heard. He describes his audience, which is tiny and composed of people who are not my buyers. He tells me to go to an automated link to program my interview slot! When I go to his site, there are typos on it, and his interviewee I never heard because he talked incessantly for the first couple of minutes.

When I told him all this, that his offer was actually: Help me build my brand for free with people who can’t provide you with anything, and do so without personal contact because I don’t want to spend any more time on this than I have to…. He replied that he never requested my feedback!

Yeah, you did when you approached me to do you a favor. But his attitude exemplifies the smugness (arrogance with the talent) that people have when they can broadcast on the Internet without barrier, critique, or manners. It’s internet pollution.

Bam! Sometimes it take a 2X4 upside their head to make room for the point that needs making.
