Dumb-Ass, Stupid Marketing

When people ask me for recommendations, which is often daily, I recommend people whom I know, whose services I've used, places I've actually visited, products I've found useful. I don't recommend people on social media who are otherwise strangers, because I can't guarantee their quality or even their honesty. Yet people ask to join me every day on those platforms and immediately seek leads from me.

One guy, to whom I explained this, told me that he and I were peers because we were both on Linkedin. I told him that we weren't peers, and never would be, and that his example was like claiming we were peers because we both subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. 

I thought technology was supposed to make us smarter. I guess not.
