I Don’t Like What You Wrote. Funny, I Don’t Remember Asking You.

I Don’t Like What You Wrote. Funny, I Don’t Remember Asking You.

If you want to write easily and rapidly, write for yourself. Stop worrying about what other people will think, or whether you’ll be critiqued. Get your fragile ego out of the way—lock it in a closet.

No one is erecting statues in the parks to critics. We need critics, don’t misunderstand, but we could have writers if there were no critics but couldn’t have critics if there were no writers.

Contribute value (whether speaking or writing) to others with good intentions and you’ll be fine. Stop sweating critics beforehand and ignore unsolicited feedback after you write.

I ran into a theater’s artistic director who told me he won’t put on plays by Molière because he can’t stand his work. That’s because the artistic director is narrow-minded and, perhaps, envious, not because Molière is not good. (Read or see the play, The Miser.)

Never worry about someone who may not read or like your work. It’s their loss.
