    Brilliant – thank you for that and the term ‘doom loop’ in a previous post.

    An example: I can never understand why businesses cut advertising in a downturn. If advertising works then why on earth would you stop doing it just when you need it? On the other hand, if it is superfluous then why would you do it ever?
