Jersey Shore

Jersey Shore

Drove over to Point Pleasant and took over what our granddaughters (who will be here later today) call the “red roof house.” There is a massive beach volley ball tournament going on outside. We’ve stocked up on wine, and Peapod delivers all our food tomorrow. Linens were delivered this afternoon. (I love this system.) I brought cigars, vodka, and scotch with me.

Maria has invited various and sundry family for tomorrow, coming and going. I intend to do something more enjoyable—swim out a few hundred yards and punch a great white until it’s annoyed.

There isn’t much damage from Sandy to be seen, though we haven’t walked the boardwalk yet. This house is unscathed, but the one next to us, in pretty bad shape pre-storm, is being completely rebuilt. There are relatively few people on the beach, and all the motels we pass have “vacancy” signs. I don’t know if this is because of the storm or the fact it rained this morning, because it’s gorgeous at the moment.

The beach vollyballers are quite good. Especially the ones in the bikinis.
