Let’s Do it Again in an Hour

Let’s Do it Again in an Hour

If you win your competitive event by .01 seconds, or a score of .01 points,  I don’t think you’re necessarily “the best in the world.” I think that on that day and in that place and at that time, you simply reached a point  or performed a fraction ahead of someone else. If you did it again in two hours, the result could well be different. With subjectively judged events, that’s even more the case.

However, if you win the event or the race consistently over time, then you’re probably the best in the world (of those who were able to enter the competition).
