Meghan, Harry, and Oprah

Meghan, Harry, and Oprah

You can consider that Oprah interview with Meghan and Harry last night one hell of a revenge session, though I’m not saying it wasn’t justified. If that level of racism, offensive behavior, and bias exists—after the experience of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana—then you have to wonder how the adjective “royal” can be used with any family that is so cold and utterly charmless. And the British press in its own frenzy on race and scandal makes the American press actually resemble true journalism, hard as that is to believe.

I understand Oprah (who asked very good questions) was paid $5 million for this, and that Harry and Meghan have secured multi-million dollar deals and live in splendor amidst pandemics and economic disruption in California. “We have nice house here,” he said, cluelessly. I don’t think we’re talking about huge intellect or talent, just the luck of the draw and the pubic’s thirst for intrigue among public figures.

I cannot understand how the UK can support this anachronism of a manarchy in a world of social justice demands and a “commonwealth” containing so many people of color. Harry had the courage to serve in the military, but not the courage to reveal who asked him, at the highest levels, about what color his child would be and the ramifications.

Tom Brady had a revenge tour. Last night was a revenge bomb.
