Nantucket 2012—9

Nantucket 2012—9

A stormy day yesterday, but a warm and windy beach in the afternoon. Magically, the Sunday New York Times managed to make it to the island. The shorter route into town involves far more cobblestones, but we chose it last night to dine at the Jarred Coffin House.

The town is quite empty. Parking is easy, the shops have few customers, you can walk into any but the most popular restaurants.

When we arrived home again last night we went out on the deck to hear the surf, and found ourselves under thousands of stars. We’re already discussing doing this again the same way next year.

This morning, it’s already bright and the birds are soaring. I’ll get my writing done, head for the general store for newspapers, and then out the breakers I’m watching at the moment.
