Open Your Eyes
I once had a quack doctor, recommended to me (in error) by my long-standing doctor who was retiring. The quack, who’s still practicing—and “practice” is the apt term—gave me a horrible diagnosis of a serious illness. He put me through a dozen tests, wasting my time and the insurance company’s money, not to mention he hospital’s resources. I finally went back to my original doctor and he said, “You’re not sick,” as I sat in his office.
“How do you know?” I asked.
“Because you don’t look sick,” he said calmly, And we was right. The quack had read some test results incorrectly and was eager to do complex testing.
Look around you. Do you believe the frenzied, panicked media reports (the economy really isn’t strong, we’re headed for inflation!!!) or what you see, which is businesses opening up, jammed restaurants, vacations spreading, people going back to work, people finding new careers?
We’re not “sick.” The media is, in effect, asking, “Whom are you going to believe, us or your lying eyes?”
Believe what you see, not what illusory flames the media seeks to fan.
