Sticks and Stones

Sticks and Stones

An ad hominem attack is one that is made against a particular person’s character or nature, rather than that person’s argument or issue. We see these increasingly today, on Facebook, in politics, and with almost all people tied rigidly to an “agenda.” (Example: If you are skeptical about global warming you’re a “denier” who can be dismissed without listening to your point of view.)

The irony is that people making the ad hominem attack are always the ones of inferior intelligence and remind me of the children who put their hands over they ears and scream so that they don’t have to experience what’s being said.

And, of course, these people would have to look up “ad hominem.”
