The Dog Star: Habits

The Dog Star: Habits

(The Dog Star is a symbol of power, will, and steadfastness of purpose, and exemplifies the One who has succeeded in bridging the lower and higher consciousness. —Astrological Definition)

Bentley, when given a large treat or a bone, takes it away to another room (I call it “the eating spot”) so that Coco won’t try to snatch part of it or grab crumbs. Having seen and learned from this, Coco does the same thing with her treats and departs….to the same eating spot. So both of them leave the area where they received the treats to go to an area to protect them and wind up almost side by side anyway.

We all engage in habits that might have once had rationality but no longer do. Waiting an hour after eating before going in the water is one example. But profusely thanking a buyer for the time as if you are inferior to that buyer is another. So is sending a “thank you” note because you were granted a meeting.

We often take our treat and act as if we’re sales supplicants. We go to the “selling spot.” We need instead to act like a peer and stand our ground.
