Why Are You So Angry

Why Are You So Angry

There are a lot of inordinately angry people out there. Instead of disagreeing with you, they scream at you. Instead of merely unsubscribing to a newsletter, they launch an epithet. Their anger is disproportionate to the grievance they feel they’ve experienced.

That’s because most anger expressed so violently is self-anger, directed outward so as not to damage one’s fragile psyche. Most people of this type, ironically, are most enraged by behavior they, themselves, engage in. They cut people off on the road all the time, but are crazed when someone does it to them.

I find the best course of action with truly self-loathing people is to get out of their range.

(Oh, yeah: Ask yourself why you get so worked up over what are really minor matters.)
