A Note to Amtrak Executives

We travelled home from New York on the “next generation” Acela. The train is sleek and bright, but no big woo, and although capable of higher speeds can't really attain them because of the track bed. We've been on high speed trains in England, France, Japan, Spain, and Italy and, while much faster, have uniformly uncaring service (not at all uncommon for most things in Europe). The Acela first class has had excellent service, except this new one had the worst service we've ever encountered. If that's the tradeoff, bring back steam locomotives….
