We’re seeing the Democratic nominees for president play the “blame game” at the moment (Republicans have done the same), trying to blame the front runner at this point for a myriad of errors and ills in order to bring him back to the pack. Such is politics.
In business, we too often find the same phenomenon—a search for blame instead of cause. Advise your client (and adjust your own consulting methodology) so that you find cause and not blame, a solution and not a culprit. Otherwise, the client environment will simply become politicized and we all know where that will lead us.
