Don’t Sit There

Everyone writing on Linkedin seems to have all the answers for all the personal and business problems in the world. Amazingly, it’s always a chart or a visual that is either incomprehensible or nonsensical.

I recall a woman who was my buyer at a Fortune 25 company. I was one of two primary consultants the company utilized. Every time she went to a conference she’d come back with still another loopy idea that we’d have to talk her down from. It was the worst case of recency bias I’ve ever seen. She’d say, “I just learned that the way people sit at tables and look at each other determines actual company strategy. It’s called ‘Table Consciousness’ based on a Swiss professor’s work in grade schools. I want you two to start moving all the tables.”

Once we got her settled down, we got back to real work. Remind you of HR a little?
