Moving It

Moving It

Two men delivered a 450-pound piece of furniture to our second floor last night, also removing the old one. It was very difficult work with a lot of turns, tight fits, assembly, and disassembly. They did a great job and it took them an hour. I tipped them each $100.

The huge furniture company for which they work (three states, massive TV advertising, highly publicized charity work) doesn’t even provide them with a truck that has an automated lift mechanism in the rear. They have to lift all this stuff manually about five feet.

Maybe charity should start at home, treating your employees to the best equipment and conditions you can. Could that possibly be related to labor shortages? I don’t know, I’m only a consultant….
