Steering

Steering

Chances are you ride a bike (or maybe a motorcycle). Usually, we’re talking about rear-wheel power, whether it’s motorized or manual labor. We can coast down wills, work harder going uphill, whether a motor or our muscles.

But it’s the front wheel that determines where we’re headed. The rear provides the movement, but the front determines direction. All of us learn to steer on these devices or we’ll smack into a wall or go over a cliff.

More importantly, we know where we want to go in most cases. We know the destination.

Not a bad analogy for businesses or life. You need sufficient power, but you’d better be steering your own life. Otherwise you may go where others want you to go.

Or nowhere at all.
