The Through Line

The Through Line

The mistake at this point is to believe we’re somehow going back to “normal.” The world has been permanently altered. You might not feel this has been the Industrial or Digital Revolution, but it has been an inflection point of considerable impact.

There will be more microbes, more Suez Canal-type disruptions, more migration of industries (movie theaters closing, home-based entertainment growing). We’ll be paying more attention and taking more action to help other countries because doing so helps us all. We need to be less smug and morally narcissistic. I believe everyone should be vaccinated but I don’t believe we have a right to discriminate against anyone who chooses not to be. That is their risk, their decision.

As you work with clients and customers, don’t rebound into a routine, into standard procedures. Find new ways, innovative routes.

The “through line” is a connecting theme in entertainment and performances, carrying the plot forward. Our “through line” is innovation, carrying us all to safer and better and more prosperous futures. This kind of mentality shouldn’t require a pandemic to be our philosophy moving ahead.
