Timothée Chalemet, Intellectual (Not)

Timothée Chalemet, Intellectual (Not)

Timothée Chalemet has noted that ballet and opera aren't “mainstream” are forms. Of course, he's an expert because he's been nominated for an Oscar for being an expert in …… ping pong. This is McLuhan's classic “mixed media” effect, where someone who gains “celebrity” in a field feels justified to comment on other fields. This is what happens when people are given so much money they feel they're actually well educated, and when they call themselves “artists” long enough they think they're on the level of Michelangelo. But perhaps he wasn't “mainstream”  enough, either. (Not that I imagine he knows who Michelangelo was.)
